CLINIKO ROLE & ACCESS PROTOCOL
Supervisor / Practitioner Access for Clinical Oversight • Version 1.1
1. Purpose
This protocol defines how Supervisor / Practitioner roles are configured in Cliniko to enable clinical oversight while protecting peer privacy and meeting Australian professional standards.
2. Cliniko Role Reality
Cliniko does not offer a native “Supervisor” role. The practical configuration is:
- Administrator + Practitioner combination for designated clinical supervisors
- Note visibility restricted so practitioners can only read treatment notes they authored themselves (or as configured by Practice policy)
3. Recommended Access Matrix

4. Governance Rules
- Access credentials are personal and must not be shared
- Supervisors access supervisee records only within the agreed supervision relationship and clinical governance framework
- Any change to role permissions requires written approval from the Practice
- On termination of engagement, access is revoked immediately and confirmation obtained in writing
5. Alignment with Supervision Framework
This protocol supports the RISE UP + Proctor supervision model and the MHMW Clinical Supervision Agreement. Documentation standards are set out in the Clinical Supervision Diary Note and Schedule 3 of the Independent Contractor Agreements.
